Imagine how it feels to be overwhelmed by lights, smells, and sounds each day. Picture the frustration of being weighed down by uncomfortable or itchy clothing.
This is the reality for millions of people. Many children and adults have a heightened sensitivity to sensory inputs like rough textures and loud noises. Their brain simply processes stimuli differently, and they experience the world more intensely.
Yet overstimulation can lead to stress, anxiety, and difficulty concentrating. And just like many families, this was the journey my sensitive son and I were on. Lex, who felt agitated and stressed in his clothing, simply wasn’t at ease. It seemed like every garment had abrasive seams, rough textures, or irritating tags. Online shopping proved even harder, leading to a closetful of items that just didn’t seem right.
When I met with my son’s psychologist, I learned we weren’t alone in our sensory struggle. People who are sensitive to the garments they wear are distracted. Subconsciously, they may feel unsafe — which means that a frustrating label or chafing fabric can be debilitating. A simple sensory issue can get in the way of a person’s social connections, ability to focus, and overall development.
Determined to find a solution, I partnered with psychologist Wim Tops, along with a fashion designer and other experts. Together, we created garments that could meet the needs of highly sensitive people — without sacrificing style or functionality. We tested every premium product to make sure it delivered the comfort sensory sensitive individuals crave.
Building on our brand’s initial success with garments, Blusss now offers elegant garments, refined accessories, and meaningful resources that serve as a complete lifestyle haven. Yet our goal remains the same: to bring solace to sensory sensitive people.
