Review: My Experience with the Weighted Collar from Blusss

Calming Relief with the Weighted Collar from Blusss

Review: My Experience with the Weighted Collar from Blusss

First encounter with the weighted collar Blusss gave me the opportunity to test some of their products and share my experience. While browsing their webshop, the weighted collar immediately caught my attention. I had previously tried a weighted blanket, but it was not always practical. The blanket often slipped off the couch or bed and was difficult to take along when traveling. However, I really enjoyed the calming effect of deep pressure. That is why the weighted collar seemed like the perfect alternative – and it truly was. Daily use I have used the weighted collar during various moments in my day. I wore it while doing household chores such as hanging the laundry or washing the dishes, but also while working behind my computer. In addition, I used the collar during my relaxation time, for example when reading or sitting on the couch. Because I am autistic, I often feel tense and become easily overstimulated. The collar provides a calming effect almost immediately and helps me not only during busy moments but also to release tension afterward. Comfort and wearability What I especially appreciate about the weighted collar from Blusss is the ease of use combined with comfort and effectiveness: The pressure and weight are evenly distributed, which makes the collar stay in place even when walking or doing household chores. The fabric feels soft and pleasant against the skin, which increases overall comfort. The collar is discreet in appearance, making it possible to wear it in public, for example while traveling or at work. The product is practical to grab when needed and easy to take along on trips. My conclusion For people who, like me, struggle with overstimulation, tension, or sensory sensitivity, this is a truly valuable product. It feels accessible, practical, and effective. For me, the weighted collar from Blusss is without doubt a highly recommended tool. What does a weighted collar actually do? A weighted collar works through the principle of deep pressure stimulation. This means that evenly distributed pressure on the body has a calming and relaxing effect. The same principle is often used in weighted blankets, weighted vests, or weighted cushions. Scientific insights Research shows that deep pressure can help calm the nervous system and reduce stress or anxiety. It may also support people experiencing sensory overstimulation, including those with autism, ADHD, or high sensitivity (HSP). Studies indicate that deep pressure stimulates the production of the “happiness hormone” serotonin and the sleep hormone melatonin, while reducing the stress hormone cortisol. As a result, weighted tools are increasingly used as a natural aid to regulate stress and bring more balance into daily life.   About Esther Jansen Esther Jansen is a neurodivergent creator who shares honest and vulnerable content about living as a woman with autism. Expert Insights on High Sensitivity: How Blusss Sensory Clothing Helps Sensitive Kids

Expert Insights on High Sensitivity: How Blusss Sensory Clothing Helps Sensitive Kids

On Labels and High Sensitivity: How Sensory Clothing Makes Life Easier Annelies HielDoula and Child coach High Sensitivity: Not a Limitation, But Insight I’m not a fan of putting labels on people. But discovering my own “label”—being a highly sensitive person—was a relief. It didn’t box me in; it helped me better understand myself, both as an individual and as a parent. High sensitivity gives me a rich emotional and sensory awareness. I notice the smallest things: someone’s mood, a shift in energy, or the way a fabric feels on my skin. That makes life intense—in both good and hard ways. The Beauty and Burden of Sensory Sensitivity Being highly sensitive means I feel beauty deeply. I love soft fabrics, gentle sounds, calming scents. But the downside? Overstimulation. A normal morning can feel like chaos: the radio is on, the baby is crying, one child is asking questions, my partner is saying goodbye with strong perfume lingering—all while I’m squeezing into a scratchy dress with an itchy label on my neck. The mix of clothing discomfort and sensory overload is too much. How My Daughter Feels It Too I see the same sensitivity in my daughter. She flourishes when she’s allowed to wear loose, soft clothes. She avoids tight trousers, thick socks, or jumpers. Her go-to outfit? A comfy dress, no labels, no tight seams—just ease. That used to be a struggle in winter. But then we found Blusss. Discovering Blusss: A Game-Changer for Sensitive Kids At first, she didn’t even want to try the Blusss sensory clothing I bought. So I wrapped the pieces like little gifts and placed them in her closet. The next morning, she unwrapped them out of curiosity, put them on, and instantly loved the feel. Now, no matter the season, she chooses Blusss herself—from seamless underwear to warm yet soft layers. It’s amazing how something so small, like a soft waistband or tag-free fabric, can make a huge difference when you finally understand the need behind it. Every Child Deserves to Feel Comfortable Of course, high sensitivity is a broad topic and this is just my perspective. But for me—and my daughter—discovering sensory-friendly clothing has brought so much more peace to our daily life. We no longer dread dressing for the day. Comfort is now part of our routine, thanks to Blusss. About Annelies Hiel & My Little Pancake I’m Annelies Hiel, mom of Louisa, Ellie, and Rosie. Sensory Solutions for Overstimulation explained by Stiene expert at Mind-Z

Sensory Solutions for Overstimulation explained by Stiene expert at Mind-Z

Effective Solutions for Overstimulation and Sensory Sensitivities How Blusss Sensory Products Make a Difference – In Practice Understanding Sensory Sensitivities: A Daily Challenge In my work at Mind-Z, I get many questions about sensory processing. People with autism or ADHD often deal with either hypersensitivity (too much input) or hyposensitivity (too little input). It affects how they experience sound, light, textures, clothing, and even their own body signals. That’s why I love working with Blusss (formerly SAM Sensory). The products are thoughtfully designed to meet real sensory needs—without looking or feeling “medical.” As a practice coordinator supporting neurodivergent children, teens, and adults, I see the impact every day. Common Sensory Challenges I See When I talk with clients, a few common struggles come up: Hypersensitivity: discomfort from seams, loud noises, bright lights, strong tastes or textures. Hyposensitivity: not noticing pain or hunger, needing deep pressure to calm down, bumping into things, or making loud noises. To assess this, I often use the Sensory Profile by Olga Bogdashina. Once we know someone’s sensory pattern, it becomes easier to find the right tools—like the ones Blusss offers. Blusss Sensory Clothing: Comfort Without Compromise Blusss clothing is a game-changer for clients who struggle with regular fabrics and seams. Even removing tags isn’t enough if the material itself feels rough or itchy. Blusss uses ultra-soft fabrics and seamless construction to make sure clothes feel just right. One of my absolute favorite items? The sensory underwear. It’s incredibly hard to find underwear that doesn’t irritate—and this one gets it right. And then there are the seamless sensory socks. Many of my clients wear socks inside out to avoid seams, but it’s not a perfect solution. Blusss socks solve this with soft, flat-knit seams and non-elastic cuffs. No tightness, no discomfort—just calm feet all day. Smart Tools for Calm and Focus Other essentials I recommend often include: The weighted collar: calming deep pressure for the shoulders and neck. The chewy fidget: discreet, wearable, and safe to chew. The ZenKey sensory keychain: quiet and grounding—perfect for school or work. Many common sensory toys (like fidget cubes or tangles) can be noisy or visually distracting. These Blusss tools are silent, soothing, and stylish. Why I Recommend Blusss to Families and Professionals There’s so much thought in every Blusss design: Quality fabrics – unbelievably soft, breathable, and durable. Seams that don’t irritate – often stitched on the outside, yet barely noticeable. Subtle and stylish – no “special needs” look, just cool and neutral colors. This means kids don’t stand out at school, and teens or adults feel confident wearing their sensory clothes in any setting. No awkward questions. Just comfort and inclusion. “These small but meaningful changes help children feel more included and comfortable in their daily lives.” Real-Life Impact: What I See in My Practice One boy I worked with couldn’t wear long pants—only shorts, even in winter. But with Blusss sensory trousers, he finally could. Another child only wore Crocs, refusing shoes because of sock discomfort. The seamless socks changed that. Even I personally use the weighted collar! After a day of work at my desk, I feel my shoulders relax, my headache eases, and I feel more grounded. It’s a simple but powerful tool. About Me – Stiene Van den Eynde from Mind-Z I’m the practice coordinator at Mind-Z, an independent center in Onze-Lieve-Vrouw-Waver (near Mechelen). How Sensory Socks Helped My Child with DCD Dress Independently

How Sensory Socks Helped My Child with DCD Dress Independently

The Right Socks Changed Our Mornings From Daily Struggles to Smooth Starts I’m Liesbeth, mom of a bright and sensitive 11-year-old with DCD (Developmental Coordination Disorder). For years, getting dressed—especially putting on socks—was one of the biggest challenges in our day. Not because he didn’t want to, but because the socks just didn’t feel right. They were too tight, had annoying seams, or twisted as soon as he tried to pull them up. Most mornings ended in frustration—taking socks off and on again, twenty times over. Sometimes he gave up, other times it ended in tears. And honestly? It broke my heart. Then we discovered the Blusss Sensory Socks The first morning he tried the Blusss socks, he managed to put them on himself. No complaints. No do-overs. They fit right away. I saw the surprise on his face… and the pride. A small moment that meant the world to us. These socks are different: soft, seamless, flexible—and they don’t press or twist. They give him the independence he deserves and take away one of the daily hurdles we’ve been facing for years. It's more than just socks For us, these aren’t just pieces of clothing. They’re a little piece of peace. One less thing to fight against. One more moment of calm. And as a mom of a child with sensory needs, that’s priceless. Blusss made a real difference in our lives—with something as simple as socks.
